　　 雅思口语中不能用very装点的形容词和分词
1．在只能做表语的形容词前不能用very，而要应用其他的词。
例如：
（1）It's well worth trying．（不能说very worth）这很上算一试。
（2）I'm wide awake．（不能说very awake）我是彻底醒悟的。
（3）She's fast asleep．（不能说very asleep）她在酣睡。
We are much beholden to you for your help．（不能说very beholden）我们极端感谢你给我们的救助。
（4）He felt quite sure of the appointment．他感到很有把握获取这个职位。
（5）I'm much afraid of snakes．我极端胆寒蛇。（口语上也应用very）
类似这样不能和very连用的形容词还有：afloat，alight，alive，alone，alike等。它们能够和much或very much连用。例如：
（1）The two brothers are very much alike．这两兄弟极端相似。
（2）He is very much alive．他极端活跃。
2．在先前分词用作谓语动词时不可和very连用，要用much，very much或quite等说明程度。
例如：
（1）The financial situation seems to be much／very much improved．（不能说very improved）财政状况好像有很大转机。
（2）Britain's trade position has been much／very much weakened by inflation．通货膨胀很大程度上减弱了英国的贸易地位。
（3）Ted was most surprised when he heard the news．特德听到这个消息很惊诧。
当先前分词指的是一种态势或性质时，可和very连用。例如：
（1）a very frightened animal一只极度受惊的动物
（2）a very complicated problem一个很纷繁的问题
当先前分词用作谓语动词，但表示一一己对某事的反响时，可与very连用。例如：
（1）We were all very shocked by the news about Tony．我们听到关于托尼的消息都很震惊。
（2）I am very pleased to hear it．听到这话我很愉快。
有些人在这种状况下宁肯用much不用very，但在现代英语非正式文体中常用very。
3．当前分词平凡不能和very连用，要用much，quite或其他词。
例如：
The theory sounds quite convincing．这意见听起来很有劝止力。又如：不能说very screaming（尖声呐喊的），children必须应用像这样的词continually or loudly screaming children；singing birds也不可说成very singing birds等等。very只或许和已转用为形容词的当前分词连用，例如：very interesting（很有趣），very exciting（极端令人亢奋）等。
顺便说一下，在有的副词前不用very要用well，quite表示很，极端，彻底之意。例如：
（1）His name is well up in the list．他的名字排在名单的前面。
（2）He was treated quite fairly．他受到很公正的看待。
动词也不和very连用，要用其他副词，如much／very much和 quite等装点。例如：
（1）I should much like to come．我很想幼儿园英语来。
（2）They closely resemble each other in appearance．他们的相貌很类似。
（3）By doing so you will greatly oblige us．您这样做将使我们极端感谢。
（4）He is well grounded in the English language．他的英语有很好的根基。
